Paul Romano – new works for solo show at editions
I visited Paul in his studio to review the new pieces he has been working on for his show at Editions in November. He’s been working on a larger scale recently and this has resulted in some really striking pieces. His use of colour has always been a strong component of his work and these pieces demonstrate the powerful emotional response of colour and composition. I can’t wait to get them on the walls. We’ll keep you posted as to the date of the private view.

Best of Merseyside
There are a number of open exhibitions held throughout the year in venues across the six merseyside boroughs and we hosted the Liverpool open at Editions last December. Someone had the great idea of making a selection from these exhibitions and bringing them together to be exhibited in Liverpool at the Conservation Centre, in a best of Merseywide exhibition. Being involved in the organisation of the exhibition has been exciting and brought me into contact with many of the curators of the galleries across Merseyside, The exhibition can’t cover all the artists working across Merseyside but it gives an exciting overview of the breadth of talent both professional and enthusiastic amateur. It’s an interesting conterpoint to the John Moores exhibition…so why not see both. Art Merseywide: the best of the openexhibitions is at the Conservation Centre, Whitechapel, Liverpool from 23rd September to 31st October 2010
Peter Blake Charity Dinner
Sir Peter Blake will be hosting a dinner at Ness on Friday 11th to raise money for Kids Company a charity that works with vulnerable inner city children. Sir Peter will be talking about his work and answering questions at an intimate and informal event. Tickets are very limited! Please contact us if you are interested in booking a space or would like more information.
Sir Peter Blake and his Artbus
We can’t believe we have managed to organise a visit by the Art Bus designed by Sir Peter Blake. The bus and the man himself are coming to Ness Botanic Gardens and will be hosting an exhibition of Sir Peter’s work. Saturday 12th June from 10am to 1pm as part of his ‘Rock and Roll’ Art Bus Tour.
The 20 year old double Decker spent its working life on the Streets of Liverpool. A dream to convert the bus into something special became a reality in 2009, with the top deck converted into a contemporary gallery space complete with balcony, and the lower deck a ‘lounge’ area’. The Art Bus really is something very special, it is a quarter of a million pounds of mobile ‘art installation’, in its own right!

Peter Blake, of course, designed the exterior of the bus in his trade mark ‘Pop Art’ style, ensuring that its appearance is flamboyant and beautiful.
The Art Bus is free to visit, but you need to call (or call into) 16 Cook Street, Liverpool. Tel: 0151 236 4236. Email: info@editionsltd.net. Web: www.editionsltd.net…………and book a time slot, to receive your ‘freedom pass’.

Editions hosts first Liverpool open exhibition
Editions is very pleased to be hosting and collaborating with Loaca Art to bring you the launch of the Liverpool Open Arts exhibition. Featuring a wide range of styles sizes and artists, we have tried to make this, the first of what we hope will be an annual event, as inclusive a show as possible with photography, limited edition prints and paintings from some of the most interesting artists working in and around Liverpool.
We have been impressed with the quality and range of work from both artists we know and much to our surprise some impressive pieces from artists whose work is new to us.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see work from so many contributors in one space and we intend to squeeze in as much as we can on both our ground floor and top floor spaces. The artists and works are too numerous to list . Most of the work will be available to purchase and as well as featuring a variety of media there is also a range of prices from small prints and photographs to large scale originals.
We hope you will join us on what promises to be a very exciting event and one that will be repeated annually
